The longest running team sponsorship in Gaelic games will continue into 2023 after Glanbia strengthened their ties with Kilkenny GAA.
The nutritional company announced the latest extension to their deal with the Cats at UPMC Nowlan Park today (Wednesday). The arrangement will see all Kilkenny hurling and football teams from under-14 to senior levels wear the Avonmore-emblazoned jerseys. All leisurewear including tracksuits, polo shirts and kitbags will carry the Glanbia logo.
In attendance at UPMC Nowlan Park in Kilkenny for the announcement of the continued sponsorship by Glanbia & Avonmore of Kilkenny GAA in hurling and football from u14 to senior level were Kilkenny senior hurling manager Derek Lyng with players Paddy Deegan and Walter Walsh.
“This is a great sporting partnership,” PJ Kenny, County Board chairman, told the assembled guests. “The longest team GAA sponsorship in Ireland, this is a successful partnership. Glanbia’s health and nutrition goals mirror the health goals of our players.”
Kilkenny senior hurling manager Derek Lyng, who was at the event, praised Glanbia for the links they have forged with the county since coming on board in 1994.
“We have come a long way together and hopefully it will continue long into the future,” he said. “Their work in looking after the team’s nutritional needs has allowed us to focus on the job in hand on the field.”
