Widows on the rampage in South Kilkenny

The Slieverue Eigse Players will tread the boards from March 9 to 11

Those intrepid thespians, The Slieverue Eigse Players are back after a long hiatus with the hilarious comedy ‘Widow’s Paradise’.

This tale of love and laughter is set in a small caravan park in rural Kerry, where chaos ensues when five ladies plans for a quiet, girls only trip are thrown into disarray by the arrival of four able bodied men who have it appears booked the same caravan.

Ruby (Marley Irish) is a strong-willed widow with a distaste for men, while the lovable Lucy (Joan Aylward) still seeks true love. Vanesssa (Katie Smith), Rachel (Breda Tobin) and Sylvia (Sophie Phelan) all add their own mix of mayhem to the holiday.

The men’s cast is led by Harry (Michael Shalloe) an alpha male, his not too bright brother-in-law Ernie (Paddy Drennan) and his young son Alan (Isaac Carew). Wilfred (PJ Irish) and landowner John (John Wallace) further complicates proceedings. The play is produced and directed by James Rockett with sound/lighting by Jim Dunne.

The play runs for three nights from March 9 to 11 at St Mary’s Hall in Slieverue. Admission is just €10. Doors at 8pm.
