BREAKING: Green light for large new residential development in Kilkenny

Ormonde Homes Limited have received planning permission, subject to conditions, to proceed with a large residential development on a c. 5.95 hectare site at Wetland and Poulgour, Kilkenny City.

Original plans submitted to Kilkenny County Council sought the construction of 178 residential units.

Permission for four apartment blocks was sought as part of the original application, alongside 72 two-storey three-bed houses, 8 two-storey four-bed houses and 12 three-story three-bed houses.

Provision of a crèche of c. 440 sqm arranged over two storeys also formed part of the plans.

In total, the applicant sought to provide c. 8,400 sqm of public open space with an additional 1,316 sqm of communal open space.

305 residential car parking spaces were sought in total, as well as almost 300 bicycle parking spaces.

The application was submitted to Kilkenny County Council in January, 2023.

Further information was submitted to the local authority in relation to the development on May 3, at the request of Kilkenny County Council.

The planning application was subsequently approved, subject to thirty-one conditions, on May 30, 2023.
