A local councillor has welcomed the additional 100 per child in Child Benefit Payments which will be paid to families to help cope with the increasing cost of living.
The additional support means that €240 per child will be paid this month in respect of over 1.2 million children.
Child Benefit Payments totalling almost €300 million will be received in families’ bank accounts tomorrow.
Councillor Maria Dollard welcomed the announcement of €100 per child to be paid to 11,691 child benefit recipients in Kilkenny.
"This payment may come as a surprise to some families as it was announced last February as part of a
package of additional supports to families. Top up payments like this can help families with children meet additional costs during summertime. The payment applies to all families receiving childrens allowance payments and they
should see a payment of €240 per child in their accounts tomorrow,” she said.
The increased Child Benefit payments are part of a package of measures secured by Minister Humphreys in February and are in addition to the €2.2 billion of supports provided for in Budget 2023.
