The Board of Management of Scoil Mhuire National School in Mooncoin have made a substantial planning application to Kilkenny County Council.
The proposed development includes a single-storey extension to the rear of the existing school building to include two mainstream classrooms, two resource rooms, an S.E.N. classroom and ancillary accommodation.
Minor alterations are also planned internally to the existing building to accommodate the new extension.
The existing vehicular entrance is planned to be widened and a dedicated pedestrian entrance is envisaged.
Also planned is a new replacement ballcourt, the decommissioning of the existing treatment plant and the installation of a new wastewater treatment plant.
Permission is also being sought for the removal of existing prefabricated buildings upon completion of the extension.
