Peace activist to give talk on Palestine  in Kilkenny

Ed Horgan will give a talk in the Clubhouse Hotel on April

A former UN peacekeeper and Commander in the Irish Defence Forces will be in Kilkenny later this month to deliver a talk, “Time to Stop Ireland’s Complicity in Genocide”.

Kilkenny Community Palestine Solidarity Group has invited the peace activist, Ed Horgan to give the talk at the Clubhouse Hotel on Patrick Street on April 24. Horgan has a leading role in Irish peace organisations.

“Humanity is facing a multitude of existential crises at present and most of these are interconnected. The Gaza situation has led to the unprecedented destruction not only of so many lives, but also the destruction of the rule of international and humanitarian laws.

Horgan became involved in peace activism initially in 2001 when he realised that the Irish government were allowing US military on its way to war in Afghanistan transit through Shannon Airport. Horgan’s background in peacekeeping and election monitoring in Cyprus, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa gives him unique insight into need for peace-making as an activity.

Kilkenny Community Palestine Solidarity Group supports the self-determination, self- government and human rights of the Palestinian people For the last six months members have joined with other organisations and supporters of peace for Palestine holding a vigil held at Kilkenny Town Hall, High Street each Wednesday from 5.30pm to 6pm. All individuals and organisations are welcome to take part in the vigil and to come along to Edward Horgan’s talk at the Club House. Entrance will be free:

In his talk on April 24 he will encourage people to use their voices in writing letters to media as a means of correcting
misinformation and promoting human rights.
