The Star of Knockagh Accordian Band will perform live in Kilkenny

A marching band will travel in style to Kilkenny during National Heritage Week when they board chug into MacDonagh Junction Train Station aboard Loco no 131.

The Star of Knockagh Accordian Band from Carrickfergus, Co Antrim are part of the 300 passengers onboard who will arrive in Kilkenny on August 18. The band will perform at the train station at 1pm.

The event is organised by the Railway Preservation Society (RPSI) who have restored the carriages on the locomotive which was built in 1902. The carriages are Cravens built in the early 1960's which were withdrawn in 2006 and restored by the RPSI.

The band will march from the train station  to Kilkenny Castle and hold a concert from 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
