The local community in Castleinch turned out in force last Friday night for the launch of Castleinch Kilkenny - Connections Through Time.
The book, which is a treasure trove of local history is edited by Richard Hyland and Michael O’Dwyer.
Councillor David Fitzgerald launched the publication which was published by the Castleinch Church & Graveyard Committee.
“I was delighted to be a part of the launch and I commended the committee and the local community on the fantastic work that they did restoring St David’s Church and Graveyard. I was heartedned by the large turnout and the goodwill that the local community have shown towards this restoration project.”
Cllr Fitzgerald also acknowledged the enormous contribution of the chairman of the committee, Richard Ryan. He also welcomed a recent funding announcement of €30,000 which will go towards a conservation plan for St David’s Church and Graveyard. The funding was secured from the Department of Heritage and was successfully applied for through the local heritage officer at Kilkenny County Council.
