Designated car parks for vehicles left on the side of motorway access roads by car-poolers has been suggested again by a Kilkenny councillor.
Cllr Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere asked that Kilkenny County Council investigate getting parking bays in several areas adjacent to the M9.
He said a safe area for people to park, off the road, “would be really helpful.”
He cited examples in other counties, like Louth, where there are car parks for carpoolers with 25 to 30 spaces.
Area Engineer Declan Murphy said feasibility studies for such parking facilities have been carried out and a ‘park and ride’ is being considered for Danesfort, but not Knocktopher.
He had no information about Paulstown.
