Phil Hogan
Former minister and European Commissioner, Kilkenny's Phil Hogan has been appointed to the Advisory Council of the International Cancer Patient Coalition (ICPC).
The ICPC was officially launched in September at an event in the United Nations Headquarters General Assembly in New York City. The coalition is comprised of a diverse group of global policymakers, academia and innovators, collaborating to advance research, innovation, and policy reform in cancer care across the globe.
Under Mr Hogan’s voluntary participation in the ICPC, his focus will be on advancing research, innovation, and policy reform in cancer care across the globe. By fostering collaboration between stakeholders, it is Phil Hogan’s objective to share expertise and resources globally to combat cancer more effectively.
Phil Hogan’s appointment to the ICPC comes as he participated in a pivotal panel discussion, on behalf of the organisation during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September.
Known for his extensive experience in international diplomacy and policymaking, the former Commissioner contributed to a session titled “Equity, Excellence, and AI in Modern Cancer Care" bringing his expertise to a vital global discussion on the future of cancer care which explored the role of artificial intelligence in revolutionising cancer detection and treatment while addressing critical issues of equity in access to care worldwide.
Mr Hogan’s involvement in cancer research and advocacy aligns with his lifelong commitment to fair trade and global equity, which he championed during his time as European Commissioner.
