Gardaí have taken to social media to share details of a shocking recent encounter with a motorist in Kilkenny.
"The driver of this Kia Ceed came a cropper when the ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) activated on one of our roads policing vehicles," a garda spokesperson explained.
"The motorist, now a pedestrian was travelling along the Callan Road in Kilkenny when stopped.

"To compound matters not only was his vehicle uninsured but also untaxed with no NCT being driven by a learner unaccompanied sitting on his seatbelt. A trip to the impound was called for."
Gardaí finished describing the encounter by saying: "On the bright side it's unseasonably mild this afternoon so it's a perfect opportunity to get those steps in."
