Online advice point for families - Kilkenny Parent Hub launched

Kilkenny Parent Hub, a new website that features valuable information as an advice point for parents and families in Kilkenny City and county, was launched last week at an event at McDonagh Junction.

A services directory for Kilkenny, parenting resources, a news section, a countywide events listing and a contacts section are just some of the content to be found on Kilkenny Parents Hub. 

The initiative was funded and delivered by Tusla-Child and Family Agency’s Prevention, Partnership and Family Support Service (PPFS), Kilkenny Children and Young People’s Service Committee (CYPSC) and Kilkenny Child and Family Support Network (CFSN). Kilkenny Parent hub coordinator Helena Cody is based at Newpark Close Family Resource Centre (FRC).

Similar Parent Hub websites have been developed for Tipperary and Carlow.

Sandra Collins, who is senior Tusla PPFS manager for Kilkenny commented,

“If you are seeking advice on parenting, looking for support, or information on local events, Kilkenny Parent Hub offers a one-stop support for parents, families and caregivers on current news and events in the area. It makes perfect sense to provide families across the county with vital information in one location. I thank our partner, Newpark Family Resource Centre, who
worked with us on this initiative”.

Several of the service providers supporting Kilkenny Parent Hub were at the launch in McDonagh Junction, which was a Halloween-themed family fun event, where they offered information and advice to visitors. They included: Newpark Close FRC; Kilkenny Childcare Committee; Family Carers Ireland; Community Connect; Kilkenny Community Early Years
Project; An Garda Siochana; Foróige; Kilkenny Leader Partnership; Amber Women’s Refuge; Tusla Fostering; Fr McGrath Family Resource Centre; Ossory Youth; CYPSC and Droichead Family Resource Centre.
