Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council Michael McCarthy hails 'outstanding work'

Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council Michael McCarthy recently welcomed members of the local Civil Defence team and dedicated volunteers across County Kilkenny to acknowledge their outstanding work.

In 2024, Kilkenny Civil Defence had an exceptional and impactful year, in particular by providing first aid at events including the National Ploughing Championships, Electric Picnic, National Day of Commemoration and also assisting Wexford for their Fleadh Cheoil.

“Our Civil Defence Teams and volunteers are exceptionally dedicated, tirelessly engaging in a wide range of activities that benefit communities across the country,” said Cllr McCarthy.

“Throughout decades of service, the Civil Defence have been a comforting and reassuring presence in our communities and a key source to the country in all the challenges it faces, especially in times of greatest vulnerability, and for that I say ‘Go raibh míle maith agaibh’.”
