A local grandmother has vowed to save her son's life as he continues to battle a rare and devastating muscle-wasting disease.
So far, Kilkenny people and those from further afield have donated generously, raising €35,551 so far to help William receive critical care.
However, the family who are eternally grateful to people for their kindness, are still hopeful of more support during this heartbreaking time in their lives.

"For the past six months, we have been desperately trying to raise the necessary funds for his life-saving gene therapy in Boston. This treatment could give him a real chance at a better future, but it comes with an enormous cost—one that we cannot cover alone," William's grandmother, Sarka posted to social media.
"Despite all our efforts, we are struggling to reach enough people who will read William’s story, share it, or donate," she added.
"We have shared his journey across social media, organised fundraising events, and reached out to countless people, yet we remain far from our goal.
"I made a promise to William: we will save his life. No matter how challenging this journey is, we will never give up," she commented.
"Share William’s story, tell your friends, and if you can, donate, every euro brings us closer to giving him a chance. Together, we can make this happen."
Meanwhile, on their GoFund Me Page, Sarka posted an update on William's progress.
"Since January, William has been on Deflazacort steroids, but instead of helping, he has been losing weight and struggling to eat. He’s moving faster, but that doesn’t mean it’s helping, if anything, he’s falling even more," they posted.
"Walking is becoming harder, and his legs keep letting him down. One moment he’s standing, and the next, he’s on the ground.
"It’s heartbreaking to watch, but your support gives us hope. To everyone who has donated and continues to follow our journey, I am endlessly grateful. I will never stop fighting for William."
