County Hall on John Street
There's a new Mayor of Kilkenny today (Friday) following the election of Fianna Fail councillor John Coonan to the position for the second time.
Mr Coonan, who previously served in the role in 2020, was elected at this morning's AGM of the Kilkenny City Municipal District held in County Hall due to ongoing upgrade works at the Town Hall on High Street.

Mayor Coonan was first elected as a councillor on the Kilkenny Corporation in 1994, and later to Kilkenny County Council. The local councillor has held a number of voluntary roles in the community including as Chairperson of the Kilkenny Age Friendly Seniors Forum.
