The stretch of M9 running through County Kilkenny was subject to a number of safety alerts on Tuesday.
Transport Infrastructure Ireland confirmed an 'incident' that morning involving a vehicle travelling the wrong way down the M9.
The incident occurred southbound between Junction 9 (Kilkenny South) and Junction 10 (Knocktopher).

Following that incident, TII reported a vehicle 'on fire' between Junction 11 (Mullinavat) and Junction 12 (M9/N24/N25).
