'Many of us have been affected' - Kilkenny men to take on epic challenge

A group of Kilkenny men are planning to do their bit to raise funds for the most needy in our locality with a commendable fundraiser in aid of The Irish Heart Foundation, Irish Cancer Society and Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust. - DONATE HERE

The course will be a 23km run with roughly 700 metres of elevation gain and a peak elevation of 515 at the top of Brandon Hill with Saturday, August 23 D-Day for the local dare devils.

"To cut a long story short, a group of seven of us - Bomber (Diarmaid Aspel), Kieran Cummins, Cian Dowdall (Dublin), Luke Tennyson, Richard Meaney, James Meaney and myself - are running up, down and around Brandon Hill for your entertainment and donations for great causes," the group posted to social media.

"If you’re still reading, the longer story is that in recent times, many of us have been affected by the loss of close family and friends. And for a few years at this stage, I'd been harping on about running from Inistioge to Inistioge via a crossing of Brandon Hill. It was all merely pub talk until recently, when Bomber (through more pubtalk) brought a bit of vision and a great name to the idea, hence PBC500. Combining that with some great causes, we thought there's no better reason to actually give it a go," they added.

"We'd really appreciate any donations you are willing to share and would love your support to cheer us on or have a pint/coffee afterwards.
"We'll also be having a bit of a fundraiser afterwards in the Woodstock Arms in Inistioge, where we can also share a few stories from the run, remember some of the folks we've lost recently/over the last few years and have music from some local musicians (all musicians welcome). - DONATE HERE
