Play volunteers needed for children in St Luke's General Hospital

Children in Hospital Ireland (CIH Ireland) are looking for locals to become play volunteers to support children and families in St. Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny.
CIH Ireland has more than 400 volunteers across 15 hospitals in Ireland, providing a play service for children and young people during their stay in hospital.
Play volunteers create some fun and normalcy during what can often be a stressful time for families. It gives parents and carers a chance to take a much-needed break, whether that is to make a phone call, get a cup of tea or attend to other children at home, all while knowing their child is safe and having fun.
Elizabeth Morrin, Volunteer Manager at Children in Hospital Ireland said “Everybody loves to see our play volunteers, in red t-shirts, arrive onto the ward. They play a huge role making hospital a happier place, all while supporting families in their community, at a time when they need it most. Whether it is through painting, music, or just a chat, everybody enjoys being a part of it.”
“We are so excited to grow our volunteer team in St. Luke’s and welcome those from all walks of life to join us. No prior experience is necessary – just a willingness to play!”
Children in Hospital Ireland are currently seeking volunteers available on weekday evenings who can dedicate 2 hours, once a week in the hospital. Play volunteers will engage in activities such as arts and crafts, board games, card games and more. All volunteers will be vetted with ongoing training and support provided.
