Presentation Secondary School student Aisling McGovern represented her school in the Physics Olympiad, which was held in Dublin City University on Saturday, March 3.
Over 70 sixth year students from around the country took part. The competition consisted of a written test in physics taken over two and a half hours.
Two gold, two silver and four bronze medals were awarded to the eight highest-scoring entrants. Aisling received a bronze medal, which was a huge achievement for both Aisling and her physics teacher Mrs Knox. The two recipients of the gold medals now go on to represent Ireland in the International Olympiad in Estonia later this year.
