Fran's Kickathon a winner as Kilkenny auctioneer raises funds for Cois Nore

Fran Grincell's annual Kickathon is entering its final days as the local auctioneer raises funds for local charity Cois Nore.

Over 12 nights, 'Franaldo' kicks a football against a wall outside Community Radio Kilkenny with members of the community donating generously in person and via the GoFund Me Page.

So far, €24,100 has been raised in aid of the Kilkenny charity with the full-time whistle on this year’s Kickathon set to be blown on Friday evening.

"If you're in a position to help somebody, the onus is on you to do something," Fran explained.

"It is a huge effort from the family," he added, hailing the Grincell's support in securing donations.

"How do I feel? I'm wrecked, I get tired but I have to do it because I owe it."

Asked what he enjoys most over the 12 night football marathon, Fran replied, "the people," crediting the public's financial and morale support.

"I love kicking ball, I'd kick a ball all day if I could," he concluded.
