Kilkenny County Council Library Service has launched Spring into Storytime 2026, an annual Irish library initiative running throughout April that celebrates children’s love of books and storytelling.
Spring into Storytime is part of the national Right to Read programme, which encourages family reading and supports literacy development for children of all ages.
“Spring into Storytime gives children a wonderful opportunity to experience the magic of stories," said Sophie Walsh, executive librarian at Kilkenny County Council Library Service. "We hope it encourages them to grow into curious learners and passionate readers.”

Mobile Library Pop-up
The Mobile Library is rolling into the beautiful surroundings of Woodstock Gardens, Inistioge, on Thursday, April 2. Drop by between 10.30am and 3pm to join the library, explore the collection, and borrow fantastic books for all ages.
While you’re there, don’t miss Spring into Storytime - a special series of spring‑themed children’s story sessions, held under a cosy gazebo in the gardens.
Storytime sessions: 11.30am - 2pm. All are welcome - come along and enjoy stories, nature, and a great day out!
Storytime sessions play a vital role in helping children explore new worlds, discover different cultures, and understand a wide range of emotions and perspectives. Reading together encourages empathy, strengthens the bond between children and adults, and builds the foundation for a lifelong love of books and learning. Spring into Storytime shines a spotlight on the joy, warmth, and creativity that shared reading can bring to families and communities.
