After many years based in County Tipperary, PAWS Animal Rescue has reached the difficult decision that its current site is no longer suitable for the long-term care of the dogs it rescues and is looking for a new home in Kilkenny.
Gina Hetherington, who runs PAWS Animal Rescue said that the land at the existing location has become increasingly waterlogged, creating challenging conditions for the day-to-day work of caring for the animals. As a result, the organisation has begun searching for a new base in County Kilkenny.

PAWS Animal Rescue is seeking a property with existing kennels and accommodation on site, ideally through a lease agreement with the option to purchase in the future once funds allow.
A charity spokesperson said that it cannot enter competitive bidding situations on the open market.
“As a charity, every donation we receive must go first and foremost towards the dogs and their care. We simply cannot justify spending supporters’ contributions in property bidding wars.”
The rescue is interested in properties such as: boarding kennels business where the owner may be retiring, a smallholding or farmyard with kennel buildings already in place or a property with kennels and a small house or cottage on site.
“On-site accommodation is essential, as rescue work is a 24-hour commitment, and the dogs must never be left unattended.
“The organisation hopes there may be a suitable property currently unused that could provide a future home for the rescue in Kilkenny.
“For many dogs, we are their last chance,” the spokesperson added.
“With the right place, we can keep giving them the care, safety and second chances they deserve.”
