Community Games-Huge congratulations goes to the U10 1/2 Dicksboro boys playing under the St Canice`s & St. Mary`s Community games banner as they emerged victorious as Kilkenny Co. Champions last Saturday in windswept & cold Johnstown.

After a number of year`s absence the Dicksboro boys opened their account with a 1.04 to 0.00 win over the adjoining St. John`s Parish team. Next up were Aughaviller (Community Games National Champions 2011). Despite dominating the play for long periods the city parish just couldn’t convert numerous scoring chances and were defeated on a 1.01 to 0.01 scoreline. Dramatically in the final group game St. Johns boys defeated Aughaviller leaving the Canice`s & Mary`s boy top of the group on a superior scoring average. Amid wild scenes of celebration the city boys overcame a gallant Urlingford-Johnstown-Galmoy in the final on a 3.04 to 1.01 scoreline to capture the Co. Kilkenny Community Games title - the boys now go on to represent Kilkenny in the Leinster series. Congrats to all the boys & mentors Des Walsh, Seamus Rowe & Seán Kennedy.
