Thomastown Scout Group-Following a change in protocol, there will be a Registration Night held for all parents of New & Existing members of Thomastown Scout Group on Thursday 28th June 2012 in St. Mary’s National School, Thomastown from 7pm to 8.30pm. Karate Summer Camp -for Kids in Thomastown - July 24th & 25th. The Budo Martial Arts Centre, Kilkenny will run a special karate & self-defence summer camp for kids, aged between 4 years and 12 years old in Thomastown Concert Hall on the 24th & 25th July.
The camp will run for 1 hour each day and children will have the option of attending one or both days. Over the course of the 2 days the kids will be taught karate techniques and self-defence drills. There will also be a strong focus on physical fitness. Plenty of fun and games will be incorporated in to the camp on both days. Character development is a very important part of our camps also. We will focus on themes such as friendship, courage and responsibility. A Diploma is offered to all kids who successfully complete either one of both days of the camp. Karate has many proven benefits for kids both physical and psychological. Physical benefits include improving flexibility and co-ordination. Psychological Benefits include increased confidence and improved self-esteem. No special gear is needed. The camp is open to boys and girls. kindergarten-Thomastown Community Kindergarten is a Steiner based Kindergarten on the Rock Road. Give your child the opportunity to experience storytelling, baking, singing, watercolour painting, beeswax modelling, puppet shows, creative free play and outdoor activities. All activities are designed to awaken your child’s imagination whilst interacting with other children.
Summer Camp running for July - from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm. Ages 2½ to 6 years. €65 per week. The Kindergarten, which is a registered charity and non-profit making, is also taking bookings for pre-school children from 2½ years. The Kindergarten has been approved for funding under the Community Childcare Subvention Scheme and so can offer subsidised childcare for families receiving social welfare, FIS or have a medical or GP visit card. Under this scheme fees start at €4 per morning.
The Kindergarten- will also be operating the Free Pre-School Year. This is available tochildren starting primary school in September 2013 and there is no cost to attend the Kindergarten 5 days each week under this scheme.
