ALL-IRELAND FEVER - Bennettsbridge is awash with the Black and Amber as the Kilkenny hurling team bid for their 34th All-Ireland title. Most of the estates have their houses decked out in the black and amber bunting and flags are flying high.
The annual All-Ireland Display is now in place and on Monday, local children turned out in force for the PHOTO SHOOT, wearing their Kilkenny Jerseys and carrying flags, banners, teddy bears and other items. Passing motorists entered into the spirit of the occasion and there was much tooting of horns. Local Centra proprietor, P.J.Cullen provided some crisps for the children and this gesture is much appreciated. This year, the present economic situation in the country prompted the theme, “KILKENNY CAN SAVE ECONOMY, TAX ALL-IRELAND MEDALS” - The banner is supported by the Minister for sport, Leo Varadker, lending his voice to the suggestion and manager Cody adding his endorsement with the comment, “for sure”
