SPORTS GEAR - Christmas Orders are now being taken for Lisdowney merchandise, hoodies, jerseys etc. Closing date is next Friday 16th November 2012, that is this Friday, so dont delay. This year the club have teamed up with O’Neill’s for the 2012 collection! There is a brochure on so you can see the products. PRAGUE HOUSE DRAW - Last chance to buy tickets for the Prague House Monster Fundraising November Draw of €3,000 as it takes place on Friday 16th in Prague House, Tickets are still available for the €4,000 draw in December, plus countless other prizes at each draw. Tickets are €10 for each, and are available from Prague House and various locations in Freshford.

IRISH GUIDE DOGS - Charity concert in aid of Irish Guard Dogs for the blind takes place in Springhill Court Hotel on Thursday 22nd November at 8.00pm. Tickets are €15.00

ACCORD - Pre marriage course takes place in Kilkenny on 18/19th Januray, 22d/23rd February, 22/23rd March, 24/25th May, 14/25 June. Contact Mary Curtin on 056 7722674 to book.

FUEL FOR SALE FOR LISDOWNEY GAA - Please note, there was an error in this phone number over the past few weeks, so if no-one contacted you, please try again. Lisdowney Hurling Club has Timber and briquettes for sale. To order, please contact Stephen on 086-2770217. All fuel will be delivered directly to your door.

LISDOWNEY LOTTO - The numbers drawn in the Lisdowney GAA and Camogie Club Weekly Lotto on Monday, 22nd October 2012, were 1, 17, 18 and 22. There was no winner. Match three winner were Dick Blanchfield, Tony Brennan and Anthony Brennan. Next week’s jackpot will be €2,400. The draw will be held in Mackey’s Bar, Gathbawn, on Monday, 19th November 2012.

SCOR NA nOG - Lisdowney GAA club will compete in the Kilkenny Scor na nOg group on Wednesday 28th November in Langtons. They will compete in Solo Singing, Instrumental and Question Time. If any others would like to compete in ceili, figure or set dancing, recitation, story telling, balled group or the novelty act, please contact club PRO on 086 1985251, entries must be in by 22nd November.

CHRISTMAS PARTY - The Lisdowney parish children’s Santa Party will be held on Sunday 9th December in Lisdowney Community Centre. This is still the least expensive way for your children to visit Santa over the Christmas period, at only €5.00 per child including a full party with their own friends. Please help us make this year’s party very special for all the children by turning up in our numbers. There will be a meeting on Thursday 29th November in the Resource centre at 7.30pm to plan the event, new help is urgently needed.

BALLYRAGGET SCOUTS - The investiture of the beevers, cubs, scouts and laeders takes place tonight, Wednesday 14th November at 7.30pm in the CYMS hall in Ballyragget. This is a big night for the children and all are welcome. Guest speaker on the night is Theresa McGinn, Chartered Physiotherapist, who will speak on the physical challenges facing the children of today.

BALLYRAGGET FOROIGE YOUTH CLUB - On Friday the 9th and the 16th of November between 7.30pm and 9.00pm, registration for the coming Foroige year will commence in the Ballyragget C.Y.M.S hall. Previous and new members aged between 12 and 18 welcome. New leaders also needed so if you are enthuastic, committed and have an interest in Youth work, please drop down to us for a chat on the 16th of November.

The registration fee is 20 euro per child and 30 euro for a family, this year we hope to hold a club night alongside the registration night on the 16th of November.

Please note that if you wish to become a member you must attend the registration night accompanied with an parent/guardian.

The club is going into its fifth year, in prevous years the club has been involved in many projects, trips and events around the country. This year we intend it to be no different.

GATHBAWN RURAL DEVELOPMENT GROUP - Would like to thank all those who took part in the McGoillapadraig Walk from Gathbawn to Durrow over the bank holiday. Over 85 people took part and had a great evening in Phelans bar on arrival where there was good food and liquid refreshment for all.

UNDER 10 SOCCER - Need to get the kids to burn up some energy over the winter, send them down to Gary in Woodview,Freshford at 12.00 every Saturday.

JOIN THE GYM - If you havn’t joined yet you are missing out. Call Stephen on 086-2770217 to join the Lisdowney gym and keep yourself fit and healthy over the winter. Prices are very reasonable.

POST NATAL PILATES - Started in Clontubrid last Friday morning the 9th November, however there are still spaces available if you wish to come along this week. bring your baby along. Phone 086 6611163 to book.

EXERCISE FOR MEN - Pilates for men only, starts tonight, Wednesday 14th at 6.00pm. Just show up tonight in Clontubrid, Freshford for 6.00pm

CHOIR - The Parish Pastoral Council is forming a group to sing at parish funerals. If interested in participating, please contact Bernie Brophy, Gathabawn, Eilis Costelloe, Clontubrid, or Angela Mullally, Lisdowney.

IFA - Durrow Irish Farmers Assoc. AGM takes place on Tuesday Nov 20th in the Presentation Centre, Durrow starting at 8pm. Guest speaker is Peter Luttrell, the County Beef Chairman.

MASS FOR THE SICK - Mass for the Sick takes place every Friday in Lisdowney at 7.30pm.

YEAR OF FAITH - The parish programme, in conjunction with neighbouring parishes has started in Castlecomer Community Hall on all Wednesdays in November, 14th, 21st, 28th and 5th December from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. Meetings are conducted by Fr Joe Delaney and are designed to help people understand and appreciate our Faith.BADMINTON - continues every Monday night in Lisdowney Community Centre at 8 pm. FIT BACK AND BUMP COURSE - An education course for pregnant mums-to-be and new mothers is on-going in Clontubrid, Freshford. Please Phone Joanne on 087 9537808 to book a place.

CANCER EXERCISE CLASS - A Cancer Exercise Class has commenced in Clontubrid. This class is specifically designed for people who have suffered any type of cancer and are recovering or recovered. It recognises the value of exercise in recovery and prevention of cancer. To book a place, please contact 087-9537808.

ZUMBA- Shape up before Christmas with Zumba Fitness- have fun, burn calories, lose weight and tone up! Zumba Toning classes are running in Durrow Community Hall and in Freshford Community Hall. For more information, please contact Sarah on 087-7460707. All fitness levels are welcome.

STICKY FINGERS - The Sticky Fingers parent/guardian and baby group has re-opened. NUI MAYNOOTH - The Kilkenny Campus of NUI Maynooth, College Road, Kilkenny (adjoining St. Kieran’s College), would like to invite all students interested in taking the first year of their BA Degree in Kilkenny City to join them at their Open Day on Saturday, 10th November 2012, at 12 pm. Students choosing to take this exciting new option will benefit by taking the first year of their BA degree close to home in a friendly, learner-centred environment - before moving to the main NUI Maynooth Campus for second and third year.
