8 BLACK SACKS OF RUBBISH - It is hard to believe but last week our Fás and Tus team cleaned a relatively small stretch of road, from the bottom of Clash to just before Red Nut on the Goresbridge/Gowran road, the ditch had been recently cut and they filled 38 black sacks with rubbish.
The committee of GRD would sincerely like to thank the lads for doing a fantastic job, it looks so much better now that it is clean.

GORESBRIDGE CHURCH BI-CENTENARY - Goresbridge Church will celebrate its Bi-Centenary this year and volunteers are being sought to form a committee to organise some events to celebrate the event. CAMOGIE CLUB AGM - Paulstown/Goresbridge Camogie Club held their AGM in the Church Hall, Paulstown last Friday evening. Outgoing secretary, Ailish Drennan started the meeting by reading the minutes of last year’s AGM. Chairperson, Helen Brennan began by thanking all those who had turned out. She thanked all the players from under 10 to Intermediate, the parents for all the driving they had done throughout the year, the trainers, Maurice Treacy, Willie Hanlon, Tom Brennan, Paul Hunston and Jim Flavin. The under 10 and 12 teams were very young last season but they played in several blitzes and got more experience as the year went on. The under 14’s were also very young. The under 16’s won the Roinn C Final having won the Roinn D the previous year. The under 16’s had their gear bags for the final sponsored by Tom Brennan and Willie Hanlon and they also went on a day trip to Dublin. The Minor team played in the 7 a side championship and were beaten in the final. The under 21’s lost to the Rower/Inistioge in the semi-final while the Intermediates exited the championship at an early stage.
She thanked all those who supported the club’s fundraising. The club had taken part in the first ever St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Goresbridge. The Easter Egg Hunt was once again a huge success with the help of sponsors Red Mills, Kellymount Quarries and Supervalu, Bagenalstown. The Christmas party had been held in Blake’s Pub, Goresbridge. The girls who had played for the county were praised, Colette Dormer for the seniors, Eilish Cantwell for the intermediates, Lauren Barcoe for the minors, Miriam Bambrick and Róisín Breen for the under 16’s, Lauren Blake and Rebecca Holden who were on the under 16 Development Squad and Sarah Hunston on the under 14 county team. Louise Brennan had a year she is not likely to forget, she had the honour of taking part in the Go Game at halftime in the League Final at Thurles and then the stuff that dreams are made of, she got to play in Croke Park in the drawn match of the All Ireland Final. Helen thanked Barrow Rangers for all their help throughout the year. She congratulated boxers, Darren O’ Neill and Keith Flavin for all their success and to those that hurled for Kilkenny in 2012, Richard Doyle, senior and under 21, Cathal Kenny, intermediate and under 21, Ciarán Doyle, minor, Ciarán Breen and Graham English under 17 and Marc Drennan under 14. When it came to the election of officers outgoing Chairperson, Helen Brennan was returned. Ailish Drennan was one of the founding members of the Camogie club back in 1999 and has been its secretary since. Last year she indicated that she would step down this year; while she will stay very much involved she vacated her position. Frances Kelly was elected secretary, Yvonne Holden held on to her position of treasurer. Mary Kealy is the Child Protection Officer. Ailish Drennan was thanked for all her hard work in keeping the club going since its inception. Incoming secretary, Frances Kelly thanked Tom Brennan of Tom Brennan Packaging for his sponsorship of jerseys for the intermediate team last season. Finally membership was fixed at €35 and €55 for a family.

FUNDRAISING CONCERT - St Lazerian’s House, Bagenalstown are holding a fundraising concert on Friday 8th of March 2013. The concert will be held in St Andrew’s Church, Bagenalstown. This will be our 5th year for our concerts and we always like to have a variety of different themes and different performers. Following feedback from people who attend the concerts, we have decided that the theme for this year is “Songs from the Musicals”.
