Hurling Club A.G.M - The A.G.M.of Tullaroan Hurling club took place in the Tullaroan community centre on Friday 11th January.
Chairman Dick Walshe opened the meeting by welcoming everyone. Again it was a tough year at senior level despite avoiding relegation. Dick announced that Declan Connolly would be returning as manager for a 2nd year picking his own selectors. On the junior front the club did reasonably well, but he thought playing in the junior A grade would be more beneficial for the club..
The chairman then thanked all the selectors, managers and players of the various teams adding that we need as many players as possible in the field to make training sessions worthwhile. Also thanks to our physio. Frankie Hennessy and first aid team of John Cuddihy, Peter Holland and Edward Holland.
Chairman then spoke about the Bord na NÓg section of the club who had a great year. The minor team won the league and championship, the U16s won the roinn B championship, U14s won the shield final.. Based on these results the future looks bright for the club. Well done to the officers, managers, selectors and parents of the various teams. He said it was great to see the field full of boys and girls of different ages during the summer playing gaelic games.
He then thanked school principal Ms Breda Holmes for her continuing support for gaelic games within the school, where the boys won their first roinn D hurling county final and the girls won the football championship.
Chairman then congratulated Tommy Walsh on winning his 8th All Ireland being part of the greatest Kilkenny team of all time. Tommy has given great joy to Tullaroan people over the last 10 years and hopefully this will continue for many years to come.
Chairman then spoke about finance. This is a major worry for the club as they showed a loss on their trading accounts for 2012. This would have to be addressed and he suggested we need a very strong and active finance committee up and running immediately.
The chairman pointed out that the main pitch in unplayable at present which needs to be addressed and this pitch will be out of action until around the end of May 2013.
Dick then thanked Pete Lawry for his brilliant work in the sports grounds and welcomed Jason Kelly who starts on Monday.
