Danesfort: GAA to
hold an awards night

People Of The Year Awards - Danesfort GAA Club are holding a Fundraising Night on Saturday, February 23in the Springhill Court Hotel featuring Diarmuid O’Leary and The Bards.

People Of The Year Awards - Danesfort GAA Club are holding a Fundraising Night on Saturday, February 23in the Springhill Court Hotel featuring Diarmuid O’Leary and The Bards.

This promises to be a great night out and will also feature the Danesfort people of the year awards, so it’s an event every Danesfort person should support if possible. Tickets for the event are €20 each and can be obtained from Pat Murphy at 087-7772106, or alternatively contact your nearest Club Committee member or player, they should be able to provide tickets also. Please come along and support.

LOTTO - Danesfort GAA & Parish Development Lotto Results Week 14. Draw took place on Monday January 14 in Delaney’s Kells. The Jackpot was €1,100 and the Numbers Drawn were 14 - 33 - 4. There was No Winner. Five Consolation Prizes of €30 - Hackett Family, Seamus Hurley, Karen & Breda, Patricia Dooley, Karena Power.Two Promoters Prizes of €20 - Biddy Barry, Felix Sheridan. Next draw Monday Jan 21 in Sheridan’s Ennisnag - Jackpot €1,200. Then The Grange Inn Monday Jan 28.

WINTER WALKERS - Winter Walkers meet Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7.00pm until 8.00pm in Danesfort GAA grounds. Bring torch, suitable clothing, runners and of course a FRIEND.    

ALZHEIMERS - Facilitated support group, for carers of people with Alzheimers/Dementia. Providing a safe space for information exchange, emotional and practical support and the opportunity to network with other carers in similar positions.  Location: Alzheimer Day Care Centre, 1 Fr Walsh Close, Cootes Lane, Kilkenny (Behind the village Inn)Next Meeting: Time: 4pm-5.30pm,  Wednesday 30th January 2013 . KARATE - Cuffesgrange Kids Karate Club - Classes in Karate for Kids will begin in Cuffesgrange Parish Hall on Monday  January 28 2013 and will run on an on-going basis every Monday from 3:15pm - 4pm. The ‘After-School’ Kids Only Karate Class is for boys and girls aged between 4 years and 12 years old. Members of the club will be taught karate techniques and self-defence drills. There will also be a strong focus on physical fitness. Plenty of fun and games will also be incorporated in to the classes.

CUBS AND BEAVERS- Cubs meet on Mondays in Danesfort Community Centre 6.45pm to 8.00pm. Contact 087 9343090.  Beavers get together onThursdays in Community centre 6.30pm to 7.30pm.  Contact 087 8043511.

FOROIGE -Cuffesgrange Foroige Club meet onThursdays in Danesfort Community Centre at 8.00pm.  It is an adult volunteer-led organization for teenage boys and girls aged 13 – 18 years. Contact  087 6406408.

GOING STRONG - The Going Strong Club resumes this Wednesday 22 at 10.30am in Danesfort Community Centre. Our Club can never have enough members so we invite new people (men and women) to come along and keep our club Going Strong.  Each morning fresh scones, tea/coffee served. KARATE -Danesfort Karate Club For boys and girls, aged between 4 and 12 years old every Tuesday from 6pm - 6:45pm in Danesfort Community Centre. The club is now looking to add to its membership. Anybody interested in enrolling their children for karate contact Kevin 086 3668669.  

SOCCER -Fort Rangers were due to play The Lions, away, last Sunday, in the St.Canice’s Credit Union Premier Division but due to bad weather all games were postponed. This fixture will now be played next Sunday, weather permitting. Fort get the advantage this weekend, as the game is moved to Wallslough with the Durrow pitch unplayable, and hopefully will be able to put three points on the board. Fixtures: Under-8 League, Fort Rangers Vs Lions, February 2, Wallslough at 12:00. Under-10 League, Deen Celtic Hawks Vs Fort Rangers, February 2, Prince Grounds at 12:00.

BINGO - Bingo takes place Every Wednesday in Danesfort Community Centre at 8.30pm.  For any newcomers, there is plenty of car parking available and a bus service operates each week from Kilkenny City.   Contact:  086 8825821

YOGA - Yoga classes are held every Tuesday  in Danesfort Community Centre at 10.00am. Yoga is a wonderful way to increase flexibility and improve muscle tone, breathing and body posture. If you would like to try it, just drop in to our classes. Class instructor is Sadhbh O’Neill. You will need comfortable clothing, yoga mat, blanket, small pillow.  Refreshments after each class (optional).  Contact 086 1666547.

BRIDGE- Bridge classes are held every Tuesday in Danesfort Community Centre with Annette Kennedy,Member of C.B.A.I. Bridge Teachers Association. Playing regularly keeps your memory active and brain alert. Contact: 087 6601564

COMPUTER CLASSES - Computer Classes will start on Wednesday morning February 6. If you are interested, please contact Claire 087 9781171. Booking in advance of classes is essential. It would be advisable also to have access to your own laptop or computer for practice.

MENS SHED - A brainstorming session will take place in Droichead Family Resource Centre on Thursday, January 24 at 11am. All men from Callan and surrounding area who would like to get involved to get this project off the ground are welcome to come along to chat and explore ideas. This idea of the men’s shed is an Australian concept where men come together and talk ‘shoulder to shoulder’ while working on practical projects.
