Danesfort - Coffee Morning a wonderful success

The Burren Chernobyl Project- - Coffee Morning which was held in Danesfort Community Centre on Easter Sunday was a wonderful success. A sincere thanks to all who supported the event and in excess of €1,500 was raised. Thank you to all who attended and bought cakes and raffle tickets. Thanks to those who baked, donated prizes and money. A special thanks to those who worked so hard to make the event a success. Thank you also to Danesfort Parish, GAA club and the visiting Kinvara GAA club who contributed to the event. Roseann Walsh travels to Gorodishche in Bellarus shortly to work in asylum which is home to 220 children and young adults. All funds raised at the coffee morning will go directly to the charity.

GAA Code of Best Practice - A second presentation on the codes of best practice and behavior will be held in the Danesfort Community Centre this coming Friday 5th April at 7.30pm. It is now compulsory for GAA coaches and mentors of all age groups to attend this talk before training and matches take place. Many of our club coaches and mentors have already attended, but for those who could not attend previously, this will be the last opportunity to do so before the season gets fully under way. If you attended the Code of Best Practice in 2012 you still must attend this year as the presentation has been updated. Please contact 087 7735519 to confirm you attendance as soon as possible.

Danesfort Karate Club - For boys and girls, aged between 4 and 12 years old every Tuesday from 6pm - 6:45pm in Danesfort Community Centre. The club is now looking to add to its membership. Anybody interested in enrolling their children for karate contact Kevin 086 3668669.

Going Strong Club - Meet every Wednesday in Danesfort Community Centre at 10.00am. If you are not a member of our Club and interested in taking part in our upcoming “Ageing with Confidence” course after Easter, please get in touch. Each session is delivered by two facilitators trained by Age and Opportunity and consists of information on aspects of ageing such as: improving self confidence, components of self and physical ageing, psychological aspects of normal ageing, self knowledge and stresses in ageing, emotional self and others aspects. Bingo - Wednesday in Danesfort Community Centre at 8.30pm. For newcomers, there is plenty of car parking available and a bus service operates each week from Kilkenny City. Contact: 086 8825821.

GAA - U6 boys training will commence on Tuesday 9th April at 6.30pm in the pitch at the rear of St Michael’s school. Parents please ensure that all boys are equipped with shin guards, helmets and hurleys. It is important that parents are present during training. TRAINING - Churchill N/S Cuffesgrange are hosting their 2nd 10k race and 5 k fun-run on May 12. It was a great success last year and again we invite all members of the community to take part. Due to the fantastic response and enthusiasm generated by the training sessions last year we are getting ready to dust off the cobwebs and go again. We have more athletes this year to take on the training at every level so no excuses all are welcome. Training will started on Monday March 11 and will continue for 8 weeks, the training times are on Monday and Thursday morning at 9.45am. and Tuesday and Friday evenings at 6.30 pm. We will meet in Kilkenny rugby club car park and there is a nominal fee of €2 which will go to Churchill N/S.
