TEENAGE CORE TRAINING -will begin again in the parish on Monday 8th,13th and Tuesday 9th and 15th April. This course is suitable for 10 year olds to 18 year olds, male and female, and is excellent for injury prevention, good posture and improving your sport. Many children currently do ‘Core Exercises’, however it is essential that they are taught correctly how to do them so that they will not do themselves harm and will benefit more from exercises they do in clubs and schools. COMMUNITY GAMES ART - Congratulations to Conor O’Gorman and Laura O’Gorman, both of whom won through in the County Art Competition and are now elligble to go forward and represent Kilkenny at the National finals in Athlone.
UNDERAGE HURLING - Hurling has resumed for boys and girls from Under 6 up to Under 12 in Lisdowney GAA Club and will continue every Saturday morning from 10 am to 11 am. All are welcome. Children must wear helmets and shin guards.
OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID COURSE - A Fetac 3 day Occupational First Aid Course will be held in Clontubrid, Freshford in May. It includes CPR and all aspects of First Aid icluding emaergency treatments for burns, epilepsy, wounds, fractures and choking. Spaces are very limited. The cost of the entire course €190.00. SUBSTANCE ABUSE - The South East Regional Drugs task Force (SERDTF), Kilkenny Community & Voluntary Forum and Kilkenny Leader Partnership are jointly organising a community consultation Seminar on the subject of substance misuse. The seminar will be on the morning of Friday 19th April 2013. The venue will be the Pembrooke Hotel, 11 Patrick Street, Kilkenny from 9:30am to 1:30pm. A light lunch will be served. LOVE CAKES - Please bake a Love Cake for the Home Care Team. This involves baking a cake, bringing it into Oldtown Hill Shop on high Street where it will be judged. You can then take your cake and eat it. €5.00 should be paid towards the Home Care Team. The prize for the winning cake will be to have your house cleaned, top to bottom by McCreery Contract Cleaners and your own Personal Butler for the day.
