On Saturday night in Tullaherin a special mass was held to mark the 100th Birthday of Peg Horgan, Castlegarden. Mass was concelebrated by Canon Patrick Duggan and Canon Pat Dalton, PP.
Peg had lived in England for many years and was married to Gerry Horgan, who hailed from Killarney. Gerry died some years ago.
Affectionately known as Oggie to her family and friends, she is a member of the Dormer family, Castlegarden. Family and friends were present, including her sister Patricia, who is attached to a religious order in Brentwood, England.
The Dormer family is well known in the Castlegarden area and the family originally lived in the old Castlegarden School, now the residence of Mr Jim McGrath.
Plans are now well advanced for the dog night to be held in aid of the Bennettsbridge Community Hall/Bennettsbridge GAA Club .
A Night at the Dogs will be held on Friday, 30th August in Kilkenny Dog Track at 8pm. A great nights entertainment is in store for all. Your support is essential to make this joint venture a success.

A churchgate collection in aid of SOS was held at the weekend and appreciation is expressed to parishioners for their generosity.
Kilfane handballers have had a very successful summer in the 60x30 competitions to date. At juvenile level, seven players have won county titles.
Girls U13 Singles Dearbhail O’Keeffe, Girls U13 Doubles Caoimhe Kelly & Eimear Farrell, Girls U16 Singles Aoife Holden, Boys U12 Singles Jack Holden, Boys U16 Doubles Dylan Caulfield & Maurice Walsh.
In a remarkable few weeks, seven Leinster titles have also been brought back to Kilfane. Willie Holden is M.B.Singles champion. Noel Holden took the S.M.B.Singles title. The Holden brothers then combined then to win the M.B.Doubles final. At S.M.B. grade, Tom Dooley & Tom O’Keeffe took home the honours, and most recently, the Ladies Intermediate Singles title was won by Rachel Hogan.
Kilfane have a number of players representing Kilkenny in the juvenile Leinster championships in the next few weeks so best of luck to all involved.

The Annual Mass in St Fiachre’s Well, Sheastown will be held this Sunday at 3.30pm. Novena takes place each evening this week.
