Congrats to Oisin Quirke, Ballyragget, and Lee McCann, Gathabawn, who represented County Kilkenny in the Community Games National Finals in Athlone at the weekend. Oisin, who plays Under 12 and schools hurling with Lisdowney, took part in the Under 12 Long Puck Final and came a fantastic eighth place out of 31 finalists. Lee, who plays Under 12 and Under 14 hurling for Lisdowney and was a member of the recent winning JJ Kavanagh and Sons Lisdowney Sevens team, came a remarkable fifth place in the Under 14 100 metres in his heat. The standard at the National Finals is extremely high and both Oisin and Lee did exceptionally well. The Lisdowney Community Games Committee wishes to congratulate both lads on their success at the finals. Both had taken part in the Lisdowney Community Games Track and Field events in April and had qualified for the County Finals where they won their events in Scanlon Park, Kilkenny, in June, securing their places in the National Finals. Lisdowney was well represented at national level this year with the Under 14 Quiz team going on to win the County Final and coming fourth in the National Final in May.
