ART EXHIBITION - Local artists Colette O’Brien and John Walsh are exhibiting their art-work in the Town Hall, High Street, Kilkenny from the 4th to the 10th August from 10am to 6pm. There are some paintings depicting scenes of Ballyragget and surrounds like Ballyragget Castle and Donoughmore Cemetery. Colette has some magnificent mosaics for sale and two extraordinary large oil paintings on exhibit. Both artists are well known and their works are sought after by many – do come along and view the exhibition and say hello!
TIDY TOWNS COMPETITION 2012 - Thanks to all whom are litter picking, displaying flowers, strimmng approach roads and doing painting works to help make the town clean and presentable for the Tidy Towns competition. The tidy town clean up continues in July starting from the Square every Wednesday at 8pm. Your support is much appreciated – every little helps.

PLAYGROUP - As there are now no vacancies left for our morning Playgroup, names are being taken for the Afternoon session which operates from 12.30 to 3.30 p.m. Monday to Friday. This is open to preschool and pre-preschool children aged from 2years 6 months to 5 years. We deliver the same high standard Playgroup and Montessori programme as the morning session. Free places available under the Early Childhood Care and Education Scheme and part subsidised places available under the Community Childhood Subvention Scheme. Naomh Bríd Camogie Club - The club wishes to thank everyone who supported last week end’s Church Gate collection. Your generous contributions are much appreciated. The U12 team played in a fantastic league match on Monday, 30th July at St. John’s Park, Kilkenny. Despite leading at half time by 1-1 to 0-1, Naomh Bríd faded in the second half as O’Loughlin Gaels made a strong comeback and went three goals ahead. However, Naomh Bríd finished well, but eventually lost by 4-2 to 4-1, after a thrilling contest. Well done to everyone. COMPUTER COURSES - Computers for communications classes will take place in Castlecomer Community Hall from Wednesday August 29th, 7-9pm. These classes cover Internet and Email, Facebook, digital photography and Skype. They are a good informal introduction to computers for beginners and take place over 5x2 hour classes.2. Dates are now in the diary for the next round of job search workshops. They will be offered around the county again and are good chance for people to develop confidence and job search strategies. It is also an opportunity to get information about local training and supports. The workshop is open to all and free of charge.
