Blast from the Past- The following essay was written by a fifth or sixth class from a parish school on the opening of the G.A.A. pitch in Hugginstown in 1978. An under 14 match was played in the new field in Hugginstown on Friday the 16th of June 1978. The two teams that were playing were Windgap and Aughavillar. The Aughaavillar team were- Pat Fennelly, Ger Foran, Pat Dwyer, Eamon Molyneaux, Pauric Crowley, Bill Cassin, Dick Kenneally, Willie Dwyer, Robert Hearne, John Irish, Billy Duggan, Larry Fitzpatrick, James Grace, Christy Dwyer and Pat McEntee. The Subs were, Sean Dwyer, Michael Landers, Paul Foran, James Farrell and Thomas Hanrahan. The score in the end was Aughavillar 3 - 2, Windgap 0 - 1. The scorers were Ger Grace 2 - 0. Eamon Molyneaux got 1 -1. Larry Fitzpatrick got 0 - 1. The scorers for Windgap were Walter Purcell who got one point. Fr. Galvan gave a pound to Ger Grace for getting the first goal. It was the first official match in that field. ( were you the Newmarket school pupil who wrote this?)

Stoneyford Active Retirement-On Wednesday, September 19. Stoneyford Active Retirement Group will travel to visit the Hunt Museum, Limerick and then onto Bunratty Folk Park and Castle.
