Fantasy Cheltenham Fundraiser - This year Dicksboro will participate in the Cheltenham Fantasy Fundraiser co-ordinated by Castlecomer GAA club. For a mere €20 ticket you select four horses each day over the four days of Cheltenham, (12th-15th March) to be in with a chance of winning a daily prize of €400 or an overall prize of €2,000. Annual Mass-The annual Mass for deceased members of Dicksboro GAA club will take place on Friday night 15th March in Palmerstown at 8pm followed by light refreshments - All welcome.
Colleges Senior Hurling-No less than nine of the starting thirty players in the Leinster Colleges Corn Uí Dhuil final, played last Sunday in Nowlan Pk between Kilkenny CBS and St. Kieran’s College were Dicksboro clubmen. Whoever won this Leinster title, it was also going to be a ‘Boro man collecting the cup, as Robbie Fitzpatrick was captain of the CBS, while Eoin Gough held the captaincy honour for St. Kierans. As it turned out, it was Robbie’s day but Eoin may yet have his day as St. Kieran’s now go into the quarter final of the All Ireland, while CBS are in the semi final. Well done to all the lads and congratulations to the CBS team on winning this provincial title. Fitzgibbon Cup-Last weekend saw UCC defeat Mary Immaculate College of Limerick in the Fitzgibbon Cup final by five points. At the heart of the Cork outfits defence was ‘Boro man, David Glynn, holding a pivotal role at full back. Congratulations David on your well earned Fitzgibbon medal.

St Patrick’s Day Parade - After last years success as the most entertaining float in the St Patricks Day Parade, Dicksboro will enter a float & a juvenile parade-the theme of this year`s parade is to celebrate the year of the Gathering - any inspiring ideas / want to get involved give Sean Keane a call on 087 8772688. Camogie Training-Camogie training for all age groups from under six to under twelve will start on this Saturday 9th March at 9.45am in Palmerstown. If you are not registered, you may do so on the day.

Family Race Day at Gowran Park - All clubs are being asked to support Kilkenny GAA by coming to a special days racing in Gowran Park on Sat 23rd March. Each club have been given thirty adult tickets to sell at €10 with free admission for U16s. The Kilkenny hurlers will attend on the day with the McCarthy Cup with other novelties on the day. Easter Raffle-St. Canice’s Co Ed annual Easter Raffle will take place on Wednesday March 20th just prior to the Easter holidays. The main prize this year is an iPad. The strength of this raffle every year is the volume of prizes on offer-usually at least 50! We rely on your generosity for donations of prizes. Credit Union Quiz-Well done to St. Canice’s Co Ed Senior A quiz team who came 2nd in the Credit Union Quiz. After a hitch on the quiz night, the team of Finian Breen, Ian O’Keeffe, Amy O’Connell and Ultan Conroy was called back for a rematch with C.B.S. for 1st position and was narrowly beaten.
Green Flag-Last week St. Canice’s Co Ed had a visit from An Taisce’s Green Flag team. A huge amount of work has been done on “Biodiversity” in the school. Our Green Day was a fantastic success. The whole school community has become increasingly aware of the need to “Nurture Nature” and hopefully will continue the good habits for life.
