MULLINAVAT BADMINTON CLUB - Well the evenings are getting shorter these are signs that the Mullinavat Badminton Club are about to get ready for business. Mullinavat Badminton Club reopens on Monday 3rd Sept at 8pm for the new season and like every other season new members are very welcome.
The Badminton Club offers the facility to people to remain active and keep fit during the winter months and is also a great social outlet. In the last couple of years a lot of former juvenile members have come back to the club and have enjoyed the experience immensely. The club have now returned to the Waterford leagues which has meant less travelling to play in competition’s. For those wishing to join come along any Monday night or ring Jos on (087) 1245083. You will be pleasantly surprised
COMMUNITY LOTTO - No winner of last weeks lotto so the jackpot for next week stands at €5,400. There were no match 3 winners last week so there is €400 up for grabs. The winning numbers for last week were 12,14,20 & 23. Best of luck to all those taking part.
MULLINAVAT GAA - The minor hurlers brought down the curtain on their season last Sunday in Danesfort. St Martin’s Muckalee were the opposition and proved too stong for the Vat boys. Mullinavat had to do without the services of county minor panellist and Darren Water’s due to injury. This proved a mountain too high to climb and with Mark Mansfield also under the weather due to sickness there was little chance of a victory. However the lads fought well and tried their hardest after a good year of training. The final score was Mullinavat 0-6 St Martin’s 3-14.
With the defeat of the County Under 21 team in Thurles last Saturday evening it meant that no All Ireland medals were coming to Mullinavat for 2012. Ian Duggan was a member of the panel who lost to Clare by 6 points. With just the All Ireland replay to go before the long awaited return to the club championship the Intermediate team took the opportunity to play a couple of challenge matches the weekend. The return to college of some of the players will now curtail training but with just a couple of weeks to go its all shoulders to the pump.
HOSPICE COFFEE MORNING - The annual coffee morning in Aid of the Waterford Hospice will take place locally in the Rising Sun on Thursday 20th of September 2012. This fantastic National fundraiser will take place on this date all over the country and is now in its 20th year. This is a fantastic opportunity to help this organisation who devotes their time and energy to people who are terminally ill. Like all organisations times are difficult to raise monies but this charity is most deserving of our help and all monies raised locally will benefit the local hospice. So please put it in your diary Thursday 20th September 2012 The Rising Sun from 10 am to 12 noon and don’t forget to bring a friend or two or three.
HARVEST DANCE THANK YOU - A big thank’s to all who made the Harvest Dance such a great success this year. This is now one of the major fundraisers for the Waterford & South Kilkenny Branch and all monies raised locally will be kept locally. Planning for 2013 has already under way.
