Wheelbarrow run with toys for Vincent de Paul

Kilkenny woman Gillian Kavanagh will be taking her annual Christmas wheelbarrow run through the streets of the city on Tuesday morning to collect toys for the Society of St Vincent de Paul.

Starting from Langton’s around 9.30am, she and her team will push trolleys full of toys along John Street to Rose Inn Street, Kieran Street, High Street and Patrick Street and then along to Supervalu in Loughboy, where a representative from the charity will be there to meet them.

Last year, her efforts brought in some €700 worth of toys and vouchers that were given to children in need for Christmas.

“This year might be a bit harder because not as many people are working, but I would appreciate if people could help me out,” she said. “Santa really brings a smile to a child’s face.”

Donations of new toys for the wheelbarrow run can be brought to Langton’s.
