NAOMH BRID CAMOGIE
As the 2013 season ends, we are delighted to record that it was a progressive year for the club. The increased participation by players and adults meant that training and coaching was provided for a total of 50 girls, from under 8 to under14, every Tuesday evening. Sincere thanks are extended to the new coaches, who quickly learned the skills of the game and helped our players to improve. Our main team is the Under 14 squad and they had a tremendous season. The girls won five, drew one and lost one game in the League, so they finished second to Lisdowney In the championship, we beat Tullogher in the quarter final and played O’ Loughlin Gaels in the semi final, on a beautiful August Saturday, at Jenkinstown. Unfortunately, we didn’t hit our best form and bowed out of the competition. The experience gained will stand to the players next year and only four of this team will be over age. Best wishes and thanks to Imelda Lennon, Eve Hegarty, Karen Delaney and Katie Brophy for their contributions to Naomh Brid. As we don’t field teams beyond under 14 levels, this talented quartet will play their camogie elsewhere next year.
Nationally, we send our congratulations and best wishes to Joan O’ Flynn, a former President, who has recently been appointed Ard Stiurthoir of the Camogie Association.
Beavers have started back on Monday 23rd September for a fun-filled year.
Cubs are starting back on 9th October and Scouts are back on Tuesday 1st October. There are a lot of children enrolled for this year and lots of activities planned foe the 2013/2014 year. With such large numbers of children the planned activities can only go ahead if adequate help is available. If you are available to help please contact Edel. Parents are also needed for fundraising and for participating in the group- the leaders that are in the group are great but their role is with the children and if the ratio is not right the night cannot go ahead.
This year we will be holding a Christmas Fair on 1st December – lots of activities and stalls planned for that day. If you would like a stall or would like to help in any way please contact Edel on 087 4188260.
