boxing-Congratulations to Donal O Laoghaire, Sion Meadows and Jack Sheridan New Orchard, stars of the O’Loughlin Gaels Under 12 team, who both became County Boxing Champions at their weight divisions at the weekend. No matter which sport either of the two boys choose no doubt they will excel. They will now go on to represent Kilkenny and all in the Parish wish them the very best of luck.
REGISTRATION- FOR JUVENILE SECTION IN O’LOUGHLIN GAELS. Sunday February 10th at 10 am is the date and time set for the O’Loughlin Gaels GAA Club Juvenile Registration. On the morning the most important people will be all the new boys and girls joining the club to play Hurling and Camogie . Parents are advised that membership in O’Loughlin Gaels for juveniles is a recession busting €10 for boys. Hurlers are welcome in O’Loughlins from 4 years of age and our kiddies academy places its emphasis on making friends and having fun while playing gaelic games.
Already plans are underway for some of the older age groups in the club. The O’Loughlin Gaels U11s and U12s will play Sarsfields of Galway on Sunday 24th of February in Galway and the go on to Salthill to support Kilkenny against Galway in the National Hurling League. This group along with all the other age groups will commence training after each boy registers on February 10th.
The Camogie section will also accept registration on February 10th . €15 for girls upto U14 is equally a very reasonable price for membership of one of the most progressive Camogie clubs around.
SENIOR FOOTBALLERS START THE SEASON ON THE RIGHT NOTE-The O’Loughlin Gaels Senior Footballers beat Conahy Shamrocks in the first round of the League last Saturday in Jenkinstown. The final score was 3.10 to 3.4. The team will also play Glenmore and Muckalee in the group stages.
CAMOGIE CLUB AGM-The O’Loughlin Gaels Camogie Club’s Annual General Meeting took place in the O’Loughlin Gaels clubhouse last Friday night February 1st. Chairman Jim Kavanagh welcomed everyone and thanked them for attending. A minute’s silence was held for founder member Rena Sheridan who passed away during the year. Jim spoke about the good year the club had winning county championships at U-18 and U-12. He thanked all the trainers and officers for their hard work over the past year. Jim thanked the hurling club for all their support and looked forward to working closely with them again this year. The Club would also like to thank their main sponsor Paddy Leydon of Leydon Bar Johns St and to all our other sponsors for their generous support.
