Lotto - The parish lotto with a jackpot of 5,350 euro was not won, small winners were 30 euro Ray Fogarty, 25 euro John Alley and 20 euro Terence Jacob . The lotto of February 11 will be held in the Durrow Inn with a possible jackpot of 5,650 euro. Tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.

Gala Night - The Family ,extended family and friends of the late Kieran Monahan are holding a Gala Night in Dec’s Bar on March 2 to raise funds for a local adolescent treatment center who helped Kieran. The night will include a valuable auction of several top items, hair dying, waxing, slave auction, live music, etc, etc. More details nearer the date, all proceeds from this event will go in full to a local adolescent addiction center. Please keep this date in your diary because there will be great bargains under the hammer, fabulous raffle prizes and a great craic.
Senior Citizens - The Senior Citizens party will be held in the Castle Arms Hotel on Marc 2 at 2 pm. Invitations are being distributed by the community council. Anyone who wishes to attend or wants to nominate someone to attend are asked to contact any member of the community council .
Fashion Show - Our Lady’s Meadow Primary School invite you to support a local fashion show as a major fund raising event on Friday March 1, in the Castle Arms Hotel . Admission is ten euro and tickets are available through the school, parents council and on the night at the door. Proceeds will go to the building of the new classroom and the upgrading of essential facilities. Come along and support family and friends on the “cat walk” and enjoy a night of fashion and fun.

Enrolment - Enrolment forms are available from Our Lady’s Meadow Primary School for children starting school in September 2013. Forms should be returned before February 28. If you need a form please call to the school office during school hours. You and you child will be invited to visit the school on Wednesday June 2 and you will receive a reminder nearer that date. If you are not enrolling your child in the school please let the secretary know as soon as possible.
South Laois Bus Service - On Friday next February 8 the South Laois Bus service will be finished. This service started last November after Bus Eireann stopped their daily service and M &A coaches won the tender , with no subvention from the National Transport Authority the route became financially a huge loss maker and the service will stop on Friday. The NTA, following meetings, have announced that a new tender go out in the coming weeks and it will have subvention restored . The NTA hopes to continue the service while tenders are out and the people of Durrow and surrounding areas hopes that this service will be back to its full programme very shortly. This service is an very important link to the Dublin/Cork, Cork/Dublin, Dublin/Limerick, Limerick/ Dublin, Dublin Airport and many destinations further.
