COMMUNITY CENTRE LIBRARY
The Community Centre Library is looking for donations of all types of books especially Hobbies, Arts and Crafts, Music and Reference. Has anybody for instance got old songbooks or sheet-music to donate? Maybe someone has DVDs, CDs, audio tapes or even records to contribute!
Used old clothing/ sheets/blankets/curtains/towels/handbags/shoes. To enhance the wonderful facilities at the GAA grounds – a parish wide campaign is now in full swing to collect the items listed above so you can now de-clutter your wardrobes and other storage space for free and support a really good cause (note: Clothing does not have to be in good condition). This is how it will work:-all players are being supplied with bags at training and mentors are currently distributing plastic bags, but ordinary black refuse sacks will do. The bags can be dropped off at the front of the GAA Complex over the next few weeks. After July 1st a bin will be placed in the car park for these items.
Parish League – even the onset of rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of over sixty children aged seven to twelve when our Parish league started. There were wins for Templeorum, Fiddown and Whitechurch in the first round matches but the Owning, Piltown and the High Road teams showed enough in their second half performances that they will compete well in the next four rounds. The six teams are managed by our adult players and great credit is due to them for ensuring all players got maximum game time. The next round is on Friday 12th July @ 6pm.
Club Coaching – our club is delighted to have Tom Waters appointed as our school’s coach. Tom will be coaching hurling and camogie along with the teachers in our three national schools. Tom is a well known hurler who played at the top level with Carrick Swan and Tipperary and has vast experience with coaching at all levels. Tom’s mother is Josie (Grace) from the Sweep and will take great pride in Tom sharing his talents with the boys and girls of her native parish. Many thanks to Michelle O’Shea, Jack Cahill, Tom Kenny, Tomas Talbot, Shane Walsh, Liam Knoxand Margaret O’Shea who helped Tom settle into his new role over the last four weeks.
