MINI WORLD CUP 2013
Muine Bheag Joint Policing Committee, in conjunction with Muine Bheag Town Council and An Garda Siochana, Muine Bheag, will host the Mini World Cup 2013, commencing on Friday, July 12 with the finals on Saturday, July 20. Entry is free. Age groups 8yrs to 11yrs boys and girls and 12yrs to 15 yrs boys and girls. Entries and enquiries to 085 7155236 by July 8. No names or entrants will be accepted after July 8.
Muine Bheag Juvenile GAA Club is collecting unwanted clothes, paired shoes, handbags, belts, curtains, bedding and towels to help raise funds for the club. MT. LEINSTER WAY WALK
15th Mt Leinster Way Walk will be held on Sat. July 6. at 2pm. From Corrubut Gap Myshall to Rathanna. Gathering in Cootes Pub, Bagenalstown from 1pm. Buses leaving the Fire Station at 1.30pm. Register at the Corrubut Gap Myshall at 1.50pm. Light refreshments afterwards in Rathanna. Buses return to Bagenalstown, Corrubut Gap and Myshall. All proceeds to Carlow Relay for Life, Carlow/Kilkenny Homecare Team ad Carlow Hospice. Great family day out for young and old. Kids go free. Adults €20. Suitable for strollers, walkers and joggers. To mark the 15th Walk everyone will receive a Healing Stone and one lucky person will take home a Waterford Crystal Plate. Come along and support this great cause.
BALLYLOUGHAN GUILD ICA
Ballyloughan Guild ICA monthly meeting was held in the Castle Hall, Ballyloughan on Monday, June 17. Margaret Minchin President presided. During the past month many of the members took part in charity walks, including walk from Ballyloughan, St Mullins walk on the Barrow track and the Dublin Mini marathon. Some members took part in a day out to Clonegal and Bunclody, which, by all reports, was a great day.
Two members attended the National ICA AGM in Portlaoise. This was the last meeting until September. However there are several activities during the summer break including a week-end away to Cork in July. Tullow Show is on in August. Guest for the evening was Sinead who decorated finger and toe nails for charity. Activities were discussed and put in place and events for Sept. 15 when the next meeting will be held. BALLINKILLEN HURLING CLUB NEWS
Ballinkillen H.C. sports prediction 2013-provisional. The leader board after 16 of the 30 events is as follows: Joint front runners Marty Grennan c/o Keenans and Ruari Chada, Ballinkillen at 70 points. Liz McDonald, Spahill and Ronan Minchin c/o Keenans at 68 points. James Bolger, c/o Keenans at 67 points. Ballinkillen overcame near neighbours Erin’s Own in the Kilkenny league semi final after two nail biting games. In the first game the teams finished level after extra time, Ballinkillen prevailing by one point 1-11 to 2-7 in the replay. Unfortunately Ballinkillen fell victim to a highly motivated Rower/Inistioge in the Final losing out on a score line of Rower/Inistioge 2-13 to Ballinkillen’s 13 points.
COUNTY UNDER 21 HURLERS
Carlow’s U21 hurlers had a magnificent win over hot favourites Dublin in the Leinster quarter final in Parnell Park. Ballinkillen made a major contribution with 7 players involved and the team managed by club man and chairperson Pat English. The players: Darren Dalton, Daryl Roberts, Craig and Dion Wall, Lauren Kinsella, Frankie Dowling and the injured Sean Murphy. Well done to all.

10th ANIVERSARY OF PRAYER GROUP
St. Andrew’s Medjugorje Prayer Group was founded by Clair Brid Hand in 2003. To celebrate the 10th anniversary the group is organising an outing to Glendalough on Tuesday, July 2, which will include a Thanksgiving Mass at God’s Cottage. Celebrant Fr. Thaddeus Doyle, C.C.
