CLARA KARATE CLUB - Classes in Karate for young people will begin in Clara Parish Hall and will run on an on-going basis every Wednesday from 3:15pm - 4:15pm. The ‘After-School’ Kids Only Karate Class is for boys and girls aged between 4 years and 12 years old. Members of the club will be taught karate techniques and self-defence drills. There will also be a strong focus on physical fitness. Plenty of fun and games will also be incorporated in to the classes. Karate has many proven benefits for young people both physical and mentally, including: Physical Benefits: Better movement and control; Improved flexibility; Increased fitness; The ability to protect oneself Psychological Benefits: Improved confidence; Become more assertive; Improved self-esteem. The classes will be run by the Budo Martial Arts Centre which is already very well established in Kilkenny and has a large number of young people who train regularly in the clubs other Kilkenny venue’s. The first class is free of charge for all young people interested in trying out karate. No special gear is needed, just turn up in a tracksuit and away you go.
