HURLING-The intermediate hurlers suffered defeat at the hands of Erin’s Own (Castlecomer) on Thursday night last in Jenkinstown in their latest game in the Aylward Cup. In wet and windy conditions, the locals fought hard against their senior opponents and more than held their own for three-quarters of the game. However, the Castlecomer men were able to develop a lead in the final minutes of the game, eventually winning 0-16 to 1-9. Conahy have their next outing tonight (Wednesday) when they face neighbour’s St. Patrick’s (Ballyragget) at 7.30 p.m. in Jenkinstown.
Conahy were unfortunately also defeated in the Roinn D schools semi-final on Tuesday evening last, this time by Tullaroan.
