Clogh Moneenroe: Fun day rescheduled until September

ANOTHER ALL IRELAND CHAMPION-Clogh Handball Club produced another All Ireland Champion in Padraig Cooney in U15S 60x30 in St Macartans College, Monaghan on Saturday last in front of a large following of Clogh and Kilkenny supporters. The first game was very close all the way through with Padraig losing out 15-12. In the second game Padraig took control of the game and played some great handball winning 15-8 to bring the match to a tie-break. The third game Padraig once again took control with some great kills and passing shots showing all the skills of the game and coming out victorious winning 15-5. HURLING-Cloneen bowed out of the Junior Hurling Championship when goihg down to a rampant Lisdowney side in Canon Kearns Park on Friday evening. Having beaten their opponents in the league, Cloneen went into the game with a justifiable degree of confidence. They were holding a slight edge when an old achilles heel hit them in the form of three soft goals. A few switches saw them become more competitive in the second half, but Lisdowney ked by Rory Hickey, who earlier in Tullamore score 0-13 for Kilkenny intermediate team who beat Galway in the All Ireland semi final. Cloneen are in the county league final in which they will meet southern side Piltown.

FUN DAY-The Fun Day planned but postponed on Bank Holiday weekend has been re-scheduled for Sunday week 2nd September, the Sunday before the hurling All Ireland final.
