SEAN HOARE - The death has taken place following a short ilness of Sean Hoare 25, Brandon Park.
A former boatman and founder of the Barrow Boys Showband Sean passed away at his home surrounded by his grieving family.A talented musician everyone enjoyed his company and the tales told abot him are many and legendary. His remains were removed from hie residence on Monday 12th to Duiske Abbey for Requeium Mass followed by internment at St. Michaels cemetery Tinnahinch . Sean was predeceased by his wife Joan and his son David who died following an accident in 1989. Sincerest sympathy is extended to his sons Johnnie and Patrick Daughter Mary Barry .Brothers Eamonn, Billy and Mickey. Grandchildren nephews, nieces and a large host of friends .
ANGLING CLUB - The A.G.M. of the Graignamanagh Angling Club was held at Pat Doyles Lounge on Thursday 7th March. Members were informed of the work carried during the year and the neccesity to carry on into the future to sustain the Barrow as an important angling river. Restrictions have been lifted for the coming season and it is legal to catch salmon on a cetch and release basis . Of course anglers fishing in club waters must be a member of the club and also hold current Governtment licence. The following were elected. Chairman, John Conran. Hon. Secretary Richard Dunne. Hon. Treasurer Tom Walsh.P.R.O. Mitch Foley. The club has jurisdiction over the waters at Silair Wood and at Ballyogan at Balnchfields Farrells and Roberts.

DUISKE COLLEGE - The pupils and staff of Duiske college stage a variety show at the Abbey Hall on Thursday 21st and Friday22nd March commencing at 8pm each evening. This should be an occasion not to be missed given the talent to choose from and of course its wonderful to see the Abbey Hall back in operation againn following the trials and tribulations of recent years. Congratulations to the hard working committee who through numerous fund raising activities brought the work to fruition.
