SPIKE FINAL - Church Hill N.S. are Spike Ball County Champions for 2013. The team will travel to Mary

Immaculate College on Wednesday March 20 to contest the All Ireland Inter Schools

finals. They got to the regional finals last month and were beaten in the final by Glenbeigh

from Kerry but had done enough in that tournament to qualify for the All Ireland. This is a historic first for the school and everyone wishes them well in the finals .

CAMP - Danesfort GAA are hosting their first ever Hurling and Camogie Camp from the

26 to 29 March in the Danesfort pitch.  It starts each day at 10.00am and will finish at

2.00pm.  The cost is €30 and is suitable for boys and girls aged 12 years to 16 years.

During the camp our three County Players Richie Hogan, Paddy Hogan and Paul Murphy

will be on hand to help you to improve your skills and answer any questions you might

need to know about becoming a county hurling or camogie player.  For information and

FASHION - St. Michaels National School, Danesfort are running a Fashion Show in

Langton House, Kilkenny, this Wednesday March 20 in aid of their  New Building Fund.

Also a donation will be given to St. Patrick’s Centre Kells Road.T here will be a cheese and wine reception and raffle.  Tickets are €10, and because Mothers Day is approaching, a

ticket would make a lovely gift for the mother in your life. The following shops are taking

part Mimi, Sugar Sugar, Frank Wall, Swamp, Annaleens, Prada, Carraig Donn, Paco and

Vila. Hair on the night will be by Kapelli Hairsalon. A very hard working committee are getting things organised at the moment so please support a good night out with loads

of well known faces on the ramp, not to mention our compere Edward Hayden Celebrity


 TRAINING - Churchill N/S, Cuffesgrange are hosting their 2nd 10k race and 5 k fun-

run on  May 12. It was a great success last year and again we invite all members of the

community to take part. Due to the fantastic response and enthusiasm generated by the

training sessions last year we are getting ready to dust off the cobwebs and go again. We

have more athletes this year to take on the training at every level so no excuses all are

welcome. Training will started on Monday March 11 and will continue for 8 weeks, the

training times are on Monday and Thursday morning at 9.45am. and Tuesday and Friday evenings at 6.30 pm.  We will meet in Kilkenny rugby club car park and there is a nominal fee of €2 which will go to Churchill N/S.  If you have any queries please contact Anne at 0868213729,  you can also check out our Churchill N/S Facebook page.

LOTTO - Danesfort GAA & Parish Development Lotto draw Results for Week 22

Draw was held on Monday March 11 in The Grange Inn.

The Jackpot stood at €600 and there was one winner Seamus Hurley, Ennisnag -

Congratulations Seamus. The numbers drawn were 12-33-8

No Consolation Prizes. 2 Promoters Prizes of €20 - Peggy Barden, Biddy Barry.

Next draw Monday March 18 in Delaney’s Kells, Jackpot €500. Then Sheridan’s Ennisnag Monday March 25.

KARATE - Danesfort Karate Club   For boys and girls, aged between 4 and 12 years

old every Tuesday from 6pm - 6:45pm in Danesfort Community Centre. The club is now

looking to add to its membership. Anybody interested in enrolling their children for karate

GOING STRONG CLUB - This week our members travel to Kilkenny Castle park for their outdoor activities (wear proper shoes and clothing and wrap up well) followed by a tour of the castle and much needed refreshments in the Design Centre.   On Wednesday 10th April the Club will host a 6 weeks course entitled “Ageing with Confidence”. Each session

is delivered by two facilitators trained by Age and Opportunity and consists of information

on aspects of ageing such as: improving self confidence, components of self and physical ageing, psychological aspects of normal ageing, self knowledge and stresses in ageing, emotional self and others a pects. For information contact us. The Club will also host

this years’ Alzheimer’s Tea Day on 9th May in the Community centre. There will be more

BINGO - Bingo is held on  Wednesday in Danesfort Community Centre at 8.30pm.  

Fornewcomers, there is plenty of car parking available and a bus service operates each week

YOGA - New yoga classes will commence shortly.  If you have not been with us before

and would like to join as new member please contact us.  New members are always

welcome. The class is every Tuesday in Danesfort Community Centre 10.00am. Yoga is

one of the most accessible types of exercise around and is open to all of us, no matter

what our fitness, age or ability.  Regular yoga will help strengthen and improve muscle

tone therefore keeping your body in good shape. A big focus in yoga is on our breathing

techniques, and by learning these you will be benefitting your lungs, increasing mental

calmness which in turn lowers stress levels in the body. Classes are given by qualified

instructor Sadhbh O’Neill. You will need comfortable clothing, yoga mat, blanket and small

BRIDGE - Bridge Classes take place on Tuesday in Danesfort Community Centre at

7.30pm with Annette Kennedy,Member of C.B.A.I. Bridge Teachers Association. Playing

CAMOGIE - Camogie Club of Kilkenny: We need your support for “Name on Jersey”

Competition.    Kilkenny Camogie Board have developed a novel way of seeking much

needed sponsorship for their Senior panel. For only a €50 donation, your company/

business/club/parish name will be entered into a draw and the winning name “company/

business/club/parish name” will feature on the Senior Kilkenny Camogie Jersey for 2013.

The draw will take place this Thursday, March 21 in The Springhill Court Hotel and all

are welcome. The lucky name will be drawn out by Tommy Walsh.  Refreshments will be
