Callan wants health centre site returned to the people

Councillors belonging to the Callan Electoral Area have asked Kilkenny County Council to write to the HSE asking that the site of the old health centre in Callan be returned to the people of Callan town.

Councillors belonging to the Callan Electoral Area have asked Kilkenny County Council to write to the HSE asking that the site of the old health centre in Callan be returned to the people of Callan town.

At the most recent meeting for the area, the members agreed that the council should submit a written request to the HSE at the earliest convenience. A new primary care and medical centre was opened at Friary Walk in February this year, and the former 40-year-old site at New Market Lane has since fallen into disuse.

Also arising from the June meeting, the members agreed to the granting of a five year licence to Callan United Soccer Club for use of the land where the playing pitches are situated at the Fair Green in Callan.
