A CALLAN dental business has something to smile about after it was announced as a finalist in four categories at the Irish Dental Awards.
Callan Dental Practice on Mill Street has been shortlisted for Best Practice (Leinster), Best Patient Care, Best Team and Best Employer.
The achievement is particularly satisfying for the owner, Dr Jacqueline Clune, who took over the practice in 2008. Two years later, the medical card scheme – which represented 80% of the practice’s patients – was practically abolished and Callan Dental Practice was faced with almost certain closure and the loss of all five jobs. Though an extraordinary team effort, a dedication to best practice and exemplary patient care, Callan Dental Practice has grown to become one of the biggest dental practices in the South East.
Dr Clune will attend the awards ceremony in Dublin’s Mansion House on February 1, where the awards for excellence will be handed out in 10 categories. “We decided to enter four categories and are thrilled to have been shortlisted for each of them,” Dr Clune said. “When I took over Callan Dental Practice, I set out to create a practice where the needs and comforts of the patients would be at the very centre of what we do. To be nominated in all four categories is a great testament to the team at Callan Dental Clinic who work so hard to deliver great customer care.”
